Report: Newcastle are set to sign a 'special' player in the next few days

Newcastle United are set to make their first signing of the summer transfer window.

The Magpies headed into this summer with a number of questions surrounding their transfer strategy.

Profit and Sustainability Rules are hanging over Newcastle’s heads at the moment, and many have pondered if we’d see that much movement at St James’ Park this summer.

However, Newcastle have wasted no time in getting their first deal done, and a move should be wrapped up in the coming days.

Newcastle set to sign Tosin Adarabioyo

According to The Mail’s Craig Hope, Newcastle are set to wrap up the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo in the coming days.

This report states that Newcastle have made good progress on this front over the past few days, and barring any late hitches, a deal should be struck in the coming days.

The ‘special’ defender had also been linked to Tottenham and Liverpool, but it’s Newcastle who seem to have won this race.

Bargain of the summer

Tosin to Newcastle may end up being the first deal of the summer to be done, and there’s an argument to make that this could end up being the bargain of the summer.

A proven Premier League centre-back with an incredibly high ceiling on a free transfer, Newcastle would be getting a real coup here.

Of course, it’s unclear what other deals will be done in the Premier League this summer, but Tosin to Newcastle on a free will take some beating as a bargain signing.

No deal is done until a signature is on a contract, but, by the sounds of things, this one is very likely to be finalised in the coming days.

This is a real blow for Fulham who will be losing one of their most valuable players for absolutely nothing, but the Whites’ loss is the Magpies’ gain as Tosin gears up to head to Tyneside.
