'Going to have to': Kelvin Wilson says £4m-rated Nottingham Forest player will have to leave this summer

Kelvin Wilson thinks the writing is on the wall for one player at Nottingham Forest ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Reds will have a busy summer – as ever – with Premier League football now secured for another season.

Forest will likely try to balance the books a little bit this summer, allowing Nuno Espirito Santo to work with a smaller squad.

That will mean some discussions to be had with some players who have been out on loan, with their futures at the club looking somewhat ropey.

Wilson believes one returning player is going to have to leave Forest as he bids to play regular first-team football.

What Kelvin Wilson said about Joe Worrall

It’s not been a successful season for Joe Worrall either at Forest or out on loan at Besiktas.

He spent the first half of the campaign at Forest but found regular game time hard to come by, with Worrall reportedly falling out with Steve Cooper.

That saw him on the fringes of the team when Nuno Espirito Santo came to the club and he quickly decided he wasn’t in his plans.

Now, Wilson believes that Worrall is going to have to depart the City Ground during the summer transfer window.

He told the Forest Focus podcast: “He’s going to have to move on. Nuno sent him out on loan so that’s telling Joe what he thinks of him with all due respect.”

Forest have to sell Worrall this summer

With financial fair play loitering in the background still, Forest have to balance the books this summer – and keeping Worrall makes zero sense.

The Reds have Willy Boly, Moussa Niakhate and Andrew Omobamidele at the club, whilst Murillo has been a star man during the 2023/24 campaign.

Murillo could leave but there is an argument that all three of the other centre-backs are more advanced than Worrall at Premier League level.

Worrall is reportedly going to be available for £4 million and that would represent a bit of a bargain for a club.

His days at Forest are over though and at 27-years-old, Worrall really needs to be leaving Forest permanently and starting again somewhere else.
