'The stature of the man': Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl set for TV gig with Roy Keane, Gary Neville & more

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is set to undertake an interesting, off-field role this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has become the envy of many clubs in the second tier, following his great escape with the Owls.

He took charge in October when Wednesday were winless in the Championship, eventually going on to secure a 20th place finish with 53 points on the board.

Since, a number of clubs have taken an interest in Rohl; Sunderland are known admirers, whilst Hull City were also said to have an interest.

Talks are ongoing with Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri regarding a new contract for Rohl, with said talks apparently moving along positively.

This summer though, Rohl will undertake a new role, working as a pundit at Euro 2020.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl set for Euro 2024 punditry gig

Euro 2024 gets underway on June 14th and will last until July 14th, with Germany the host nation this time round.

And ITV has since announced their pundits for the tournament, with German-native Rohl among the names set to be on TV screens.

Former Germany no.2 Rohl will work alongside the likes of Roy Keane and Gary Neville during the tournament, with Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou also among the pundits.

Journalist Alan Biggs commented on the matter, posting on X: “Shows the stature of the man – some honour that for a newly first-time manager!”

The summer ahead for Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday

Whilst it’s certainly an exciting gig for Rohl, Sheffield Wednesday fans may be concerned about how it might impact on their summer plans.

There’s a host of issues to address within the playing squad and indeed off the pitch too, and presumably not having Rohl in the country may impact on those plans.

Or it could yet suggest that Sheffield Wednesday have a number of plans in place and that those plans may come to fruition soon, meaning that Rohl has time to undertake this work with ITV.

Either way, it’s good exposure for Rohl and for Sheffield Wednesday too, with his heroics in S6 bound to come up in conversation when Rohl hits our TV screens this summer.

It’ll also be interesting from a German perspective given their poor showing at the last World Cup, and Rohl’s previous connections to the national team job.

England will partake in the Euros this summer, with Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions taking on Serbia on June 16th, Denmark on the 20th, and Slovenia on the 25th.
