‘Really good’: Glen Johnson says £35m Liverpool player is the most underrated in the Premier League

Glen Johnson has named who he believes is the most underrated player in the Premier League.

There are a number of players in England’s top-flight who are underrated. The likes of Ben White, John McGinn and Nathan Ake don’t always get the credit they deserve.

However, according to Johnson, speaking to Squawka, the most underrated player in the Premier League at the moment is Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister.

Alexis Mac Allister is the most underrated player in the Premier League

Johnson shared his verdict on Mac Allister and how underrated he is.

“Who do you think has been the most underrated player of the Premier League this season?” Johnson was asked.

The first one that comes to my mind is probably (Alexis) Mac Allister at Liverpool. People have realised how good he is, but what I mean is he’s been playing out of position, with no fuss, but still keeping up really good performances and he scored some really big, important goals as well,” Johnson said.

“It’s not easy for some players to play out of position for so long and do it with a smile on their face. So I think people forget that he’s playing out of position, and he’d much rather play further up. So I’d probably pick someone like that, that’s done a job for the team and kind of sacrifices himself a little bit.”

Alexis Mac Allister has been brilliant

Alexis Mac Allister’s debut season for Liverpool probably couldn’t have gone any better.

While the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are often cited as the Reds’ best players, there’s a strong case to make that Mac Allister has been the Merseyside club’s Player of the Season this time around.

He’s been ultra-consistent no matter where he has played in the midfield, and he’s easily justified his £35m pricetag.

Whether or not Mac Allister is the most underrated player in the Premier League is up for debate, but he’s certainly one of the Signings of the Season.
