Pickup truck driver killed in crash with garbage truck, cops say

A 53-year-old pickup truck driver was killed Tuesday following a crash with a garbage truck in Mantua, officials said.

The front of the garbage truck struck the side door of the pickup at noon in the area of Lambs and Tyler Mill roads, Mantua police said.

A map shows where a trash tuck and a pickup truck collided Tuesday in Mantua.

The westbound garbage truck was traveling on Lambs Road while the pickup was headed east on Tyler Mill Road, Chief Darren White said. The trash truck driver was not hurt. The roads meet at an angle.

Emergency workers in the Gloucester County township brought the driver of the pickup truck — a Cherry Hill resident — to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.

His identity wasn’t immediately available.
