Kelly Osbourne recalls being told she was ‘too fat for TV’ before drastic weight loss

In the latest episode of The Osbourne podcast, the 43-year-old opened up about being told she was “too fat” for TV.

“When I was a kid, I got pulled into the head of the agency’s office, and he was putting golf balls into a cup,” she said. “He gave me a whole speech about how I was too fat for TV and needed to lose weight. He said if I lost weight, I would look better.

“He was just saying, ‘You’re not a movie star, but you could be one if you lost weight.'”

Around the time, the star had been cast for the hit film Freaky Friday, playing Lindsay Lohan’s character’s best friend. However, she sadly had to leave the role when her mother, Sharon Osbourne, was diagnosed with cancer.

Brother Jack called the exchange “the most LA s***” ever, as the mom of one called it “the most insulting f***** thing.”

Although Kelly’s mom Sharon has admitted to using Ozempic, she’s reassured fans she didn’t use the same method. “I had gestational diabetes and I had to lose the weight that I had gained during pregnancy,” Kelly recently told Extra. “Otherwise I was at a higher risk of actually getting diabetes, which I did not want.”

She then explained she “cut out sugar and carbohydrates” and “rapidly lost weight.” She did have a gastric sleeve surgery around five years ago, which she also said ‘considerably helped’.

The star continues to go down memory lane

The Met Gala just isn’t the same without Joan Rivers and the iconic show Fashion Police to judge all the ‘fits afterward. On the latest podcast, Osbourne recalled her fond times on the ‘judging panel’.

Kelly described working under Joan as “the best job I’ve ever had” and said it was “the closest thing that I had to working with my mom.”

The star left the show in 2015, a year after Rivers’ death. Her exit came after Giuliana Rancic made controversial comments about Zendaya‘s dreadlocks at the Oscars that year.

“We don’t need to give her any f—–g anything,” Osbourne said about her Rancic on her recent podcast episode when Sharon mentioned her.
