Report: West Ham United eyeing move to sign 'exciting' £8.5m chance creating machine this summer

West Ham United are eyeing a move to sign an ‘exciting’ £8.5m chance creating machine this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

The Hammers waved goodbye to David Moyes at the end of last season after two brilliant spells at the club.

It didn’t end in the way he would’ve hoped but nonetheless, he led them to a respectable ninth-placed finish and a European semi-final.

Julen Lopetegui is the man lined up to take over and he’ll want to make his own imprint on the squad this summer transfer window.

That said, one ‘exciting’ playmaker has just been linked.

West Ham United interested in signing Ibrahim Maza

According to Bild, West Ham United are interested in signing Hertha Berlin’s ‘exciting’ midfielder Ibrahim Maza.

The Hammers aren’t alone in their interest, however, as Brighton and Leicester City are also keeping tabs on the situation.

Maza has enjoyed a productive breakthrough campaign in the second tier of German football and Bundesliga highflyers Stuttgart are also keen, though they have been put off by his £8.5m price tag.

All three of the aforementioned Premier League sides have sent scouts over to watch him.

Ibrahim Maza statistics

Maza’s statistics make for very impressive reading.

As per FBref, the 18-year-old midfielder ranks in the top four per cent for expected assisted goals compared to his positional peers around Europe, evincing his elite ability to create chances.

Further, he sits in the top seven per cent for interceptions – showing both sides to his game.

Whoever lands his signature this summer, if indeed he does move on, will be getting a well-rounded playmaker.
