As Florida gets ready to host its softball Super Regional, Skylar Wallace is sending her teammates into the weekend in style.

The 2023 SEC Player of the Year surprised her teammates with Oakley sunglasses through an NIL deal. She posted video of the exchanges on her Instagram, keeping the camera rolling to get their reactions. It’s safe to say the gifts went over quite well.

Wallace’s NIL portfolio includes partnerships with Ibotta, Dossier Perfumes and The Athletic Collection last year after launching her own website for fans to purchase merchandise. She is also one of seven Florida softball players to partner with the Gator-focused NIL collective, Florida Victorious.

With 66,000 followers on social media – fueled by 33,000 on Instagram and 27,000 on TikTok – Wallace checks in at No. 12 in the On3 College Softball NIL Rankings. She’s also the top-ranked Florida player.

Wallace is the latest notable softball player to partner with Oakley this year. The company also joined forces with Oklahoma star Tiare Jennings in March, and both players are gearing up for the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament this weekend.

Skylar Wallace in the midst of another big year at Florida

Wallace is once again a key piece for Florida after winning the SEC’s Player of the Year award last season. The Gators’ starting shortstop brings a .412 batting average into the weekend along with 14 home runs and a career-high 66 RBI.

It’s an impressive follow-up to Wallace’s banner 2023 season. She hit a career-best .447 while adding 19 home runs and 55 RBI as the SEC’s top player.

Florida won the SEC Tournament title this year after sweeping the weekend – capped by a 6-1 win over Missouri to bring home the title. The Gators also cruised through the Regional round of the NCAA tournament, including back-to-back run-rule victories over South Alabama to advance to the Supers.

In fact, during the second victory over the Jaguars, Wallace tied an NCAA record with her 302nd career run scored – joining former Michigan star Sierra Romero as the only players to reach that mark.

UF will continue its quest for the Women’s College World Series on Friday when Baylor makes the trip to Pressly Stadium for a best of three series. First pitch is set for noon ET on ESPN2.
