N.J. park closed as police search for gunman who shot person in a large crowd

Authorities are searching for a suspect in a park shooting that left a 23-year-old hospitalized, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

At 7:34 p.m. on Tuesday, Glen Rock police responded to a disturbance near at Wilde Memorial Park where large group was playing basketball at the outdoor courts, officials said.

Police located a 23-year-old Paterson man suffering from a single gunshot wound, authorities said. He was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Glen Rock police were assisted in the initial investigation by neighboring police departments as well as county law enforcement agencies and NJ Transit Police.

No arrests have been made and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Squad are investigating the incident, authorities said.

The investigation is active and ongoing, officials said. No additional information was provided by authorities.
