Three stars ‘set to leave’ Ibrox with Gers locked in Premier League transfer talks - report

With all this Rangers transfer talk swirling around, you’ll have done well to stay focused on the small matter of this weekend’s Scottish Cup Final.

The first Old Firm Final in 22 years in the competition, there are subplots aplenty with Philippe Clement yet to overcome Brendan Rodgers and Rangers’ record-holding trophy haul under genuine threat.

But another interesting avenue of exploration involves the turnover of the squad with several of those in the Rangers ranks increasingly unlikely to be around next season.

Philippe Clement has pretty much said so himself.

But as the weekend approaches, one report is claiming that three of the names in Rangers’ squad are all set to leave no matter what happens at Hampden.

Three to leave Ibrox

With all those transfer reports swirling overhead, journalist Chris Jack has been providing an update in the Rangers Review.

Speaking about the contract situations of several at the club – Rangers have no fewer than six first-team stars out of contract in the summer – three of the names now look set to leave.

Two of them, Borna Barisic and John Lundstram, are reportedly edging closer to a switch to Turkish side Trabzonspor.

The other name mentioned is the perennially crocked Kemar Roofe, who has seen three of his four years in Glasgow horrendously blighted by injury.

This follows on from the striker appearing to say his goodbyes following the final home game of the season.

Whilst the report confirms that this trio specifically is ‘set to leave Ibrox’, it’s clear that they will be three of several names who will quit the club in a ‘hectic summer of wheeling and dealing’.

Rangers transfer negotiations ongoing

The report also touches on Rangers’ incoming interests, with Jack confirming that Brazilian left-back Jefte is set to join the club from Fluminense.

Rangers are also said to be in the driving seat with regards Bulgarian defender Jose Cordoba despite interest from Norwich.

But interestingly the report provides an update on the Gers’ pursuit of loan duo Abdallah Sima and Oscar Cortes.

Claiming that Rangers ‘remain in discussions’ with Premier League outfit Brighton over the permanent transfer of Abdallah Sima, the claims are in keeping with recent comments from Philippe Clement.

Oscar Cortes – who had an initially bright loan-to-buy spell cut short with injury – has confirmed that negotiations between the Gers and parent club RC Lens are ongoing.
