Report: Arsenal are now ready to sell their fifth-highest-paid player for just £8.5m

Arsenal are said to be open to selling one of their highest-paid players for a very small fee this summer.

The Gunners will be active in the upcoming transfer window after missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City for the second season in a row.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to strengthen his side, but the Arsenal boss could let a few of his own players leave too. Here’s the latest on one of them.

Arsenal are ready to sell Thomas Partey for a small fee

Thomas Partey will enter the final year of his contract this summer.

The Ghana international, who is Arsenal’s fifth-highest-paid player (Spotrac), joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in October 2020. He has been a key player for Mikel Arteta since, but injuries have been really cruel to him.

Partey has missed over 70 games for club and country since joining Arsenal due to injury issues. He played less than 900 minutes of football in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season for the same reason.

It is no surprise that Arsenal are considering selling Partey. His reliability and contract length make it the best option for the Gunners this summer.

However, a report from Turkey have just made a claim that will annoy Arsenal fans.

It has been revealed by Fotospor that Fenerbahce are interested in signing Partey this summer and have already held talks with him about a potential move.

Then, the outlet bizarrely claims that a deal between the two clubs could be completed for a small figure of €10 million (£8.5m).

That is an extremely low fee for one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and we’re sure Arsenal fans will not be happy if their side lets Partey leave for such a small amount.

Edu has to change one thing at Arsenal ASAP

Edu Gaspar has done a tremendous job since becoming Arsenal’s sporting director.

The Brazilian has got almost every transfer he has completed since 2021 right, and his record on the market with respect to incomings are brilliant.

However, Arsenal need to do better when it comes to player sales.

The Gunners, in their entire history, have sold just one player for a fee in excess of £30 million – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool.

They have let superstars like Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette leave for nothing, which is not great at all.

Edu needs to change that at Arsenal very soon. If he agrees to let Partey leave for £8.5 million, it will prove that the Gunners have learnt nothing from their past mistakes.
