'One to watch': Leeds now seriously interested in signing towering £3m defender - journalist

Leeds United are now said to be among the front-runners to sign a defender who is attracting attention across Europe this summer.

Days before the play-off final, it must be incredibly hard for Daniel Farke and his team to already plan for the transfer window ahead.

The summer will have a very different complexion depending on Sunday’s outcome, but Leeds will be drawing up targets nonetheless.

It’s been reported that Farke’s side may have to make some significant sales if they aren’t promoted, perhaps the likes of Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville.

Summerville seems likely to have a ton of suitors regardless of the division Leeds play their football in next season, but being in the top flight will surely help his chances of staying.

That being said, Leeds are now said to share interest with German side Hoffenheim in one defensive target this summer.

Both Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon have arguably been two of the best signings in the Championship this season, but Leeds will need better depth in the position should they go up – especially given there’s no permanent deal in place for Rodon just yet.

Leeds now ‘keen’ on Gent centre-back Jordan Torunarigha who’s impressing in Belgium

That being said, German journalist Florian Plettenberg has just reported Leeds’ interest in Gent centre-back Jordan Torunarigha.

The 26-year-old has excelled in Belgium this season, a league which several top European clubs are now paying more attention to.

Torunarigha is thought to be available for a modest £3m this summer, with just one year left on his contract.

Plettenberg explained: “News Torunarigha | One year left on his contract after a top season of the 26 y/o centre-back from Gent!

“Transfer in summer possible with a price valuation of around €2.5-3m.

“Stuttgart was interested in the new Nigerian international in summer to replace Zagadou with injury.

“Keen on him now: Hoffenheim and Leeds United! One to watch.”

Of course, at the price mentioned, perhaps Torunarigha could be a player that Leeds target regardless of the division they play their football in next season.

The towering centre-back appears something of a bargain given his contract situation – one that is clearly attracting interest.

All that being said, one ‘exciting’ Leeds player is beginning to attract serious attention across Europe.
