Cesc Fabregas says one player Chelsea let go in 2019 was better than Sergio Aguero

Cesc Fabregas has suggested that one former Chelsea player was better than Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero.

Having made 350 Premier League appearances throughout his playing career with spells at Chelsea and Arsenal, the Spaniard played against and alongside a lot of top-level players.

Now though, the 37-year-old has made a claim about two of the Premier League’s top former stars, one of which will be very well-known to a lot of City supporters.

Fabregas picks former Chelsea star over Sergio Aguero

In a recent video shared on GOAL’s official TikTok channel, Fabregas was involved in a winner-stays-on challenge where he had to pick his favourite player from two options.

When asked to pick between Eden Hazard and Aguero, the Spaniard picked the former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger.

Aguero vs Hazard

During his seven-year spell at Chelsea, Hazard scored 110 goals and delivered 85 assists in 352 appearances across all competitions, winning two Premier League titles along the way before leaving for Real Madrid in 2019 in a deal worth an overall fee of £130m.

In comparison, Aguero scored 260 goals in 390 appearances for City as well as providing 65 assists and winning five Premier League titles between 2011 and 2021.

Even though both were undoubtedly top players, we feel that Aguero, who was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame back in 2022, had more of an impact at City than Hazard did at Chelsea, even though the striker spent longer at the Etihad Stadium than the winger did at Stamford Bridge.

However, the fact that Fabregas played in 161 games with the Belgian during their time together at Chelsea makes it understandable why the former midfielder chose Hazard over Aguero.

Either way, from a City fan’s point of view, we feel that there wouldn’t be many former Premier League star that any City supporter would pick ahead of Aguero.
