Cristian Romero says he’d loved to have played with striker who left Man City in 2021

Cristian Romero has said that he would’ve loved to have played alongside one former Manchester City star.

After initially joining Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal from Atalanta back in the 2021 summer transfer window, the defender joined the North London club on a permanent deal a year later.

During his time with the Lilywhites, Romero has featured in 81 Premier League games, playing against a wide variety of top-level players.

Now though, the centre-back has mentioned a couple of former Premier League and City stars he would’ve liked to have played with.

In a recent video shared on the Premier League’s official X account, Romero had this to say when asked which former top-flight player he would’ve loved to have playing alongside.

He said: “For me, [Carlos] Tevez or [Sergio] Aguero.”

Aguero was one of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen

Back in the 2011 summer transfer window, City paid £38m to sign Aguero from Atletico Madrid.

In his decade at the Manchester club, the striker scored 260 goals in 390 games across all competitions.

In addition to scoring the goal that gave City their first Premier League title back in 2012, the Argentine went on to become the club’s all-time top scorer in 2017 when he overtook Eric Brook’s 78-year record of 177 goals.

Back in 2022, the former striker was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame to cement his place as one of the best players English football has seen.

Taking all of that into account, it’s not hard to see why Romero would’ve relished the chance to play alongside his fellow countryman in the Premier League.

Similarly with Tevez, who also knew how to find the back of the net as he scored 84 goals in 202 top-flight appearances during his time in England.
