Kyle Walker shares what Jack Grealish messaged one Aston Villa star after their 2-0 win vs Arsenal

Kyle Walker has revealed what Jack Grealish messaged one Aston Villa player after their 2-0 victory against Arsenal.

The Manchester City right-back revealed that it was after Villa beat the Gunners that his teammates realised they could win the Premier League.

It seemed highly unlikely that after Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace earlier that day, Arsenal would also drop points.

However, Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins managed to lead Unai Emery’s side to do the double over Mikel Arteta’s troops.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Kyle Walker told Jack Grealish to message his mates at Aston Villa to thank them for beating Arsenal, and he reached out to John McGinn.

Walker said: “We all came back in and we were like, what a good weekend for Manchester City that was. Liverpool, to lose at Anfield doesn’t happen too often and I thought, the Arsenal game, I think Aston Villa played fantastically well this season.”

“So, we knew that could swing either way but you still Arsenal were going to come out on top.”

The £175,000-a-week man added: “But Aston Villa did us a favour, so we were all telling Jack [Grealish] to message his friends and say thank you for that.”

“I think he messaged John McGinn to say thank you, so we appreciate it.”

Jack Grealish had every reason to thank the Aston Villa captain

Kyle Walker perhaps gave the right advice to Jack Grealish to message his former Aston Villa teammates as John McGinn and Co. did Manchester City a huge favour in the title race.

If not for Villa’s spirited performance at the Emirates Stadium, perhaps City’s four-peat would not have been possible.

Recently, Grealish told Sky Sports that McGinn is one of his best friends in football.

The pair played together at Villa Park and made a name for themselves in the Premier League.

Grealish would have been delighted to see his former Aston Villa side defeat Arsenal, as he and his City teammates’ task at hand became straightforward — winning every game and having their destiny in their hands.

The Sky Blues got the job done and while they deserve all the credit in the world for going on their trademark end-of-the season winning run, Aston Villa’s role in the title race cannot be brushed under the rug.
