Report: £30,000-a-week Man City player is now set to sign a one-year contract extension

It has been reported that one player is set to sign a one-year contract extension at Manchester City.

At the Etihad Stadium, contracts seem to be handled brilliantly.

For instance, Phil Foden was tied to a long-term contract at Manchester City until 2027 in October 2022, when his previous deal was set to run out in 2024.

Scott Carson’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

However, it has been reported by the Daily Mail that Scott Carson is on course to sign a one-year contract extension at Manchester City.

The report adds that the £30,000-a-week man has close relationships with Ederson Moraes and Stefan Ortega, as he also pushes the pair in training.

In May last year, Pep Guardiola emphasised the importance of Scott Carson in the dressing room. Guardiola also stated that when the 38-year-old talks, “everybody listens.”

In January 2021, the Catalan tactician also revealed that the former Liverpool goalkeeper is like the club’s captain behind the scenes.

Great decision to tie Scott Carson down to a new contract

In our view, Manchester City are making an astute decision to ensure Scott Carson signs a new contract.

For what Carson seems to offer behind the scenes, both in training and as a leader, his presence at the club is vital.

It is key for any top club to have players who can be relied upon to consistently perform on the pitch.

But at the same time, it is also crucial for there to be players who help with the morale and training standards behind the scenes.

Scott Carson has performed this role in brilliant fashion for years now and as a result, his reported brand-new contract at Manchester City is deserved.

As a result, it is important for Carson to continue his spell at the Etihad Stadium while remaining the club’s third-choice goalkeeper.
