'I’m really excited': Diogo Dalot admits 'amazing' conversations with Ineos about Manchester United plans

Manchester United are on the cusp of a new era with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos now on borad and ready for their first summer transfer window.

Ratcliffe completed a rather protracted deal to invest in United back in December.

Many thought the deal would have been wrapped up earlier, especially with Sheik Jassim ruled out of the running in October.

The move finally went through though and Ratcliffe has already set about changing the culture at United.

A new technical director is on board with Jason Wilcox arriving from Southampton whilst a new CEO will start this summer in Manchester City’s Omar Berrada.

More changes will come, potentially even in the dugout with Erik ten Hag still battling to save his job at Old Trafford.

There is real hope that Ratcliffe and Ineos will finally bring some semblance of a strategy off the pitch, with those appointments marking a positive start.

Diogo Dalot on Ineos conversations

Some United fans may still need to be convinced and only time will tell whether Ineos can bring more success than the Glazers in recent times.

Ratcliffe and co have spoken to the United squad and defender Diogo Dalot has now commented on those conversations.

Dalot has told The Independent that Ineos have been ‘ready’ to come in and make the necessary changes to get United back on track at the top of the game.

The full back noted that the conversations with Ineos have been ‘amazing’, leaving him ‘really excited’ about United’s future.

Dalot is hoping that thinks ‘look a little bit different’ at United moving forward, calling for increased standards throughout the club.

“They come ready to look at what changes do they need to do to build the team and put the team back on top,” said Dalot. “They had amazing conversations with us, with players and staff. Everybody knows that they came here for actual change.”

“I’m really excited and hoping that in the near future things might look a little bit different. But towards the direction where we feel that the club matches the standards that actually are the standards of the club.”

It’s unclear just what Ratcliffe and co have told United players about their plans, but it seems that Dalot is at least impressed with what the future could hold after some testing years at Old Trafford.

Many United players could learn from Dalot

There is an old phrase which states that the best ability is availability.

It’s no good being a quality player but either being injured or suspended so regularly that you can’t really help your team.

A number of United players are just injured too often but Dalot has proven himself to be a robust and dependable player this season.

Dalot made 36 Premier League appearances this season, only failing to turn out in two games.

Whether it was at right back or left back, Dalot got the job done and enjoyed a fine season of development.

Now approaching six years since his arrival at United, Dalot finally feels like a key player and somebody United can bank on.

Dalot really got his head down, improved his game and made sure he was in great physical condition this season – exactly the traits United need to see from other players in the future.
