'He's waiting for Arsenal': £110m player really wants to join Mikel Arteta's side this summer - journalist

One of the best strikers in the world is ‘waiting’ for an offer from Arsenal to join them this summer.

The Gunners came ever so close to winning the Premier League title in the 2023/24 campaign. Manchester City got over the line in the end, but Mikel Arteta‘s side should be really proud of themselves.

However, the ultimate goal is to win the title, and Arsenal will need to strengthen their squad this summer to pip Manchester City to the crown next season.

Victor Osimhen makes decision on Arsenal transfer

Victor Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world.

The Nigerian has been a wanted man for a couple of years now. A number of big clubs around Europe are chasing him, and Arsenal have been linked too.

The Gunners have had Osimhen on their radar for a long time. His agent even visited the Gunners training ground to discuss a move a few years ago.

No move materialised then, but Osimhen hasn’t forgotten about Arsenal.

The Nigerian is expected to leave Napoli when the transfer window opens in June, with TBR Football exclusively revealing that Chelsea are prepared to trigger his £110 million release clause.

Multiple reports have claimed that the striker wants to move to Stamford Bridge as well.

However, Italian journalist Valter de Maggio has now revealed that Osimhen actually wants to sign for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this summer.

It has been claimed that the Napoli star is ‘waiting’ for an offer from Arsenal and will only consider other offers, including ones from Saudi Arabia, if the Gunners don’t make a move to sign him.

De Maggio said on Kiss Kiss Napoli: “Napoli would evaluate an Arab offer for Osimhen who, however, wants the Premier [League].

“He is waiting for Arsenal, but if a real proposal does not arrive, he would evaluate [offers from Saudi] Arabia.”

Arsenal could make surprise striker decision

Many people feel Arsenal are one prolific striker away from becoming the best team in the country.

The Gunners have come close to winning the Premier League title in two consecutive seasons, but Manchester City proved to be too good in the end on both occasions.

Several fans feel a new striker would change their fortunes, but it has been claimed that Arsenal might not look for a new number nine this summer because of Kai Havertz‘s emergence in that role.

The German finished his first season as Gunner with 14 goals and seven assists to his name in all competitions. His record as a striker is really impressive – eight goals and seven assists in just 18 games up top.

Havertz will likely get better next season, which could convince Arsenal to completely abandon their pursuit of a new striker.

Only time will tell whether that would be the right decision.
