'He's tough': Guglielmo Vicario says he's been really impressed with Tottenham player who's started just four games

Tottenham Hotspur star Guglielmo Vicario has delivered his verdict on one of his teammates who hasn’t played many games for Spurs.

The north Londoners have done really well with their recruitment recently. Since Ange Postecoglou‘s arrival, almost all of their signings have fared well.

Vicario has arguably been the standout performer, but he has now praised another recent Tottenham signing even though he hasn’t played a lot for the club.

Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario shares what Radu Dragusin is really like

Radu Dragusin joined Tottenham from Genoa in January 2024.

The Romania international was one of the most impressive centre-backs in the Serie A during his time there. His performances caught Spurs’ eye, and they battled hard to land him.

Since joining Tottenham, Dragusin has played just 424 minutes of football. Out of his nine appearances for the club, only four have come from the start.

That has led to some frustrated comments from the 22-year-old’s agent, who urged Postecoglou to change his system to accommodate Dragusin into his side.

That was never going to happen, but Dragusin did play the full 90 minutes in each of Tottenham’s last two games in the Premier League.

Guglielmo Vicario, who played in goal in those games, seems really impressed with the Romanian, and he has now praised his mentality and toughness.

He told Football London: “Every one of those lads (centre-backs) is outstanding. They have different characteristics as players but every one of them has been outstanding during the season.

“Cuti and Micky have played a bit more but then Radu came in in January. He’s a very good lad, he’s tough and he wants to improve. He’s got a good mentality.”

Dragusin needs to come to terms with one thing

Radu Dragusin is a very, very good defender, there is no debate there.

The Romania international is good on the ball, aggressive without it and is really strong in tackles. His positioning is decent and his aerial ability is impressive as well.

The fact that he’s still only 22 means he will only get better in the coming years.

However, Dragusin’s chances of becoming Tottenham’s first-choice central defender anytime soon is really small. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are levels above him.

Dragusin may have to come to terms with the fact that he will only be a backup at Tottenham for the foreseeable future.

However, he should be ready to step in and show his class if either Romero or Van de Ven become unavailable at any point next season.
