Liverpool could be looking at signing two players from Brazil, head scout has been watching prospects

Liverpool have tentatively been looking into the South American market for some time.

The Reds have not always made the best use of the continent, which is permanently overflowing with talent.

Preferring to see young players move to Europe before plucking them, FSG have adopted a cautious approach to dealing directly with Brazil, Argentina and the rest. Recently though, this has started to change.

Liverpool’s owners have reportedly been showing an interest in buying out Brazilian top flight club Cruzeiro, and as their pursuit of players like Andre Trindade suggests, they’re now open to bringing players straight over from Brazil.

So far, this has not led to any signings being made. But according to reports on Friday, this may not be the case for much longer.

Liverpool actively scouting Brazilian talents

There is always a risk attached to signing new players directly from South America, especially for big fees.

With the climate and culture being so different in the UK, there are question marks over whether players are able to adapt. By now though, there have surely been enough success stories to make this kind of a moot point.

And with that in mind, 90min report that Liverpool are actively looking into signing the ‘brightest young prospects’ from Brazil especially.

It’s claimed that the Reds have recently deployed head scout Barry Hunter to Brazil to keep an eye on any emerging talent there.

Liverpool are reportedly prioritising moves for a centre-back and a creative forward player this summer. And it’s said that while looking at Europe’s top leagues for these signings, the Reds will also be bearing in mind the market in South America.

Which talents Liverpool could target

Liverpool are wise to get onboard the talent train that’s currently racing through Brazil. Wait too long, and it’ll have left them behind.

They’ve already seen their rivals scoop up perhaps the best prospect in the country right now. Chelsea look all set to sign Estevao Willian from Palmeiras for a big sum.

Estevao is not the only player making waves right now, though. If it’s a forward that Liverpool want, then there are a number of exciting options.

Flamengo’s Lorran is perhaps the best of these, while Wesley of Corinthians is another player who’s been impressing this season. Reports have also been coming that Liverpool are watching Gremio’s Gustavo Gomes, while Luis Guilherme is well known to be of interest.

There are others too who may have caught the Reds’ eye. And with the Brazilian season currently paused due to tragic flooding in Rio Grande do Sul, let’s hope Hunter has already gathered the information he needs.
