‘Possibility’: Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham could try to sign £45m striker

The transfer window is just around the corner, and the rumour mill is starting to spew up a few stories.

Tottenham Hotspur need a striker heading into this summer.

Richarlison is reportedly set to be sold, while, in reality, Spurs still haven’t properly replaced Harry Kane since selling him to Bayern Munich.

Spurs need a new number nine, and according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking to JD Football, there’s a striker within the Premier League that Spurs could have a serious look at.

Ivan Toney to Tottenham is a possibility

Romano shared what he knows about Spurs’ search for a new striker, claiming that Ivan Toney is a player Spurs could possibly try to sign.

“Toney is another possibility, they are looking at central strikers. Toney is a name, but not the only one, they are looking at wingers,” Romano said.

Toney needs a move

Whether or not Tottenham come in for Toney remains to be seen, but the reality remains that he needs a move this summer.

The England international is entering the final year of his Brentford contract, and, in all honesty, he’s way too good to stay at the Bees for much longer.

Manchester United and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Toney, while there have been long-term links to Arsenal.

Spurs would do well to sign a player like Toney. After all, he’s proven at Premier League level and he has more about his game than just goals.

Tottenham’s attack has been blunt at times this season, despite playing with so much intent, and Toney would be exactly the type of player Spurs need to solve a lot of their problems going forwards.

This would be a shrewd signing for Tottenham, and with Toney now said to be valued around £45m, this deal wouldn’t be a bank-breaker either.
