Sunday was a bit of a whirlwind at Anfield. After all the build-up and the months of waiting, it boiled down to a buoyant Klopp welcoming successor Arne Slot with an on-pitch song.

Slot has since been confirmed as the new Liverpool head coach and intrigue surrounds his imminent arrival.

“So, five day ago was, wow, the big goodbye and I still try to process everything that happened that day and in the days around,” said the boss.

“So, slightly settled now but I’m actually not sure if I said it clear enough; thank you. Thank you for everything. Thank you for the love, for the support. It was a wonderful day. The best experience I could have ever imagined. Really, outstanding.

“And now what I’m doing, I follow my other big passion, I try to improve my padel game. Haha! I started a few days ago, today is my third session and I started on an extremely low level, didn’t play for a while and felt t immediately. but step by step I will get there.

Will Jurgen Klopp come back to work?

For the moment, we can assure everyone that Jurgen is absolutely not thinking about working right now.

Just look at him, soaking in the sun and enjoying his padel. There’s no chance he’s coming back anytime soon.

And why should he? The main reason for his wanting to leave Liverpool was to spend some quality time with his family and pursuing his other passions.

It has been less than a week, but it already looks like Jurgen is making good on the second of those criteria, and we’re sure the first as well.

Perhaps eventually we will see the boss back in football. But for the time being, we’re absolutely loving seeing what he’s up to away from the AXA Training Centre. Get working on that forehand, Jurgen!
