David Beckham says Man City have someone who is better than Paul Scholes

David Beckham has suggested that one Manchester City player is better than Paul Scholes.

Having played for clubs such as Real Madrid, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, the Englishman certainly knows what it’s like to play with and against a lot of top-level players.

With Scholes, Beckham played in 260 games during their successful time together at Old Trafford.

Throughout his playing career, Scholes racked up 155 goals and 81 assists in 716 games with the Red Devils, winning many trophies along the way.

Despite that, the Inter Miami owner has claimed that one of City’s current stars is better than his former midfield teammate.

In a recent video shared on the BBC Sport TikTok channel, Beckham and another one of his former United teammates – Gary Neville – were asked to pick between certain players from United’s 1999 team and Pep Guardiola’s current City side.

When asked to pick between Scholes and Kevin De Bruyne, Beckham picked City’s Belgian, whereas Neville went for Scholes.

Scholes vs De Bruyne

In 381 appearances for City across all competitions, the 32-year-old has scored 102 goals and delivered 170 assists, winning six Premier League titles along the way, just five fewer than Scholes won at United.

Even though De Bruyne has racked up more goal contributions in fewer games than Scholes did throughout his career, the fact that Beckham spent a significant amount of time playing with the former United midfielder, who was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame back in 2022, but still picked the City star shows just how much he admires him and what he’s done at the Manchester club.

While this decision may surprise some sections of supporters at both Manchester clubs, we feel that not many City fans consider Scholes to be a better midfielder than De Bruyne, who has done so much for the club during his time there.
