Acting on tip, Secaucus police charge woman with crack cocaine

Josephine Dimoplon, 61, has been charged with possession of crack cocaine, Secaucus police said.

A 61-year-old Secaucus woman was arrested on crack cocaine charges by Secaucus police after the department received a tip, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said.

Josephine Dimoplon was charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park.

Detectives from the Anti-Crime Unit arrested the 61-year-old May 17 after a traffic stop for failing to use her turn signal, Miller said. The Anti-Crime Unit, under the supervision of Detective Sgt. Matthew Ford, launched an investigation after the department received a tip from a resident earlier this month that Dimoplon was actively engaged in the illicit distribution of crack/cocaine.

During the traffic stop, Dimoplon was found in possession of a quantity of suspected crack/cocaine and was placed under arrest.

Secaucus Police K-9 Unit, Police Officer Tyler Pein and K-9 Brix were summoned to the stop and positively indicated that scent of illicit drugs was emanating from Dimoplon’s vehicle. A later search of the vehicle uncovered additional quantities of suspected crack/cocaine, Miller said.

“I can assure residents that tips of criminal activity will never fall on deaf ears in Secaucus,” Miller said. “The Secaucus Police Department will continue to work tirelessly to investigate tips that affect the quality of life of our residents. The Anti-Crime Unit is an integral part of our department, which has been proven over and over again by the results put forth and I am extremely proud to work alongside this dedicated group of law enforcement professionals.”
