The Kardashians clap back at documentary involving Caitlyn Jenner

The Kardashians has returned for a fifth season on Hulu and Disney+, and the infamous family are making their feelings known about a separate documentary that aired last year, involving Caitlyn Jenner, father and stepfather to many of the stars.

In the first episode of the new season, Kris Jenner, Khloé Kardashian and Scott Disick (former partner of Kourtney and family friend) discuss the project and don’t have the kindest words to say about it.

“There is this new documentary about our family”, says Khloé. “Apparently whoever has been calling people that have either once been in our lives or are in our lives to do the documentary and no-one really has agreed to do it… except for Caitlyn.

“…I do find it strange that she would agree to do a documentary that I would imagine isn’t trying to paint us in the most beautiful light.”

The documentary she refers to is called House of Kardashian and is available on Peacock in the US and Sky/Now in the UK.

It discusses the family’s empire of influence, wealth and rise to fame, and covers the many scandals associated with them, such as the OJ Simpson trial, Kim’s leaked sex tape and Caitlin’s transition, with talking heads from friends and family of the group.

During a clip of the show that the trio are listening to, someone remarks that Kris wanted to be more than a housewife – to which she rolls her eyes and remarks, “Okay, so kill me”.

In the official trailer embedded below, Caitlyn comments: “Kimberly calculated from the beginning, ‘How do I become famous?’” Meanwhile, family friend Joe Francis states: “The sex tape was a means to an end. It was to create a controversy.”

But Kim doesn’t harbour any ill feeling towards Caitlyn, as she reveals in a talking head: “I got so many text messages saying like, ‘Doesn’t that hurt your feelings?’”

“It honestly doesn’t. I had such a great stepdad who raised me, so like none of those things that are said, even if twisted or whatever, are gonna make me think differently about the life I had.”

That’s just a fraction of the drama in the first episode of The Kardashians. We learn more about Kourtney’s pregnancy journey, Kendall’s unexpected walk in Paris Fashion Week, and the beginning of a rift between two of the sisters that (if the trailers are anything to go by) will make up the bulk of the narrative this season.

The first episode of The Kardashians is now available to stream on Hulu in the US, and Disney+ in the UK and internationally. New episodes will drop every Thursday, with ten episodes reported for this instalment.
