£43m attacker is on Liverpool’s shortlist, he could move quickly after Euro 2024

Liverpool will have their eye on Germany this summer as Euro 2024 gets underway.

As usual, a number of Liverpool players will be taking part in the tournament. It’s set to be an intriguing competition.

Remarkably, England are the current favourites to win. Four of the Reds first-team squad have made it into Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man squad.

Beyond the Three Lions though, Ibrahima Konate will have a big chance with France, while Diogo Jota will carry hopes that Portugal can do it again.

Aside from those currently employed at Anfield though, there may be interest in potential new additions for Liverpool supporters.

Johan Bakayoko set to shine at Euro 2024

As the Euros kick-off in just three weeks, it seems unlikely that Liverpool will have made any new signings by then.

Of course, that might turn out not to be true. The Reds do like to do business early and it would be beneficial for Arne Slot to know exactly who he’s got to work with as soon as possible.

But a summer tournament can complicate things in that respect. As a result, Liverpool fans may be watching a new member of their team without even realising it.

One such player could be Johan Bakayoko. The PSV Eindhoven winger looks set to represent Belgium during the championships.

Having had a great, title-winning season with PSV, the 21-year-old could be one to watch in Germany. He’s also been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

And according to Dutch outlet Eindhovens Dagblad, the Reds won’t be the only ones keeping an eye on Bakayoko. It’s claimed that Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are in the mix, too.

Liverpool may hold an advantage in that fact that Dortmund reportedly won’t pay PSV’s current asking price of around £43m. It’s claimed that this fee could get even higher though, with a good performance from Bakayoko this summer said to ensure his sale is moved swiftly.

Arne Slot gives green light to Johan Bakayoko chase

Bakayoko looks like one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe. With 14 goals and 14 assists this season, he’s excelled for PSV.

With Belgium likely to go deep into the Euros, the winger should get plenty of chance to show what he can do.

If that happens, then Liverpool might need to move quickly to sign him up. Others are lingering around and could move in if the Reds hesitate.

It has been claimed that Slot has already actually signed off on the signing of Bakayoko. With the manager happy, it will all depend on FSG and their recruitment team.

It doesn’t seem likely that anything will happen before the tournament, though. So, let’s keep a close eye on how Bakayoko does out in Germany. It could have implications for Liverpool.
