It is clear which winger Liverpool should sign if Mohamed Salah does leave Anfield this summer

Liverpool could be forced into bolstering their attack this summer as the Reds look to get back on track domestically and in Europe.

Carabao Cup success was secured under Jurgen Klopp in his final season, but there were disappointing exits in the Europa League and FA Cup.

There was also the small matter of the Merseyside outfit fading away in the Premier League title race.

There is, however, plenty of excitement ahead of the impending arrival of Arne Slot, particularly with Champions League football returning to Anfield.

The new boss has several big decisions to make before the season gets underway, one of which will undoubtedly involve Mohamed Salah.

Will Liverpool lose Mohamed Salah this summer?

The winger’s immediate future is up in the air, with his Liverpool contract set to expire next summer.

Salah has been linked with a big-money Anfield exit, with the Reds set to demand more than £100million from Saudi Pro League clubs for his services.

The Egyptian star would be sorely missed, with Salah having banged in a stunning 211 goals from his 349 appearances in red, along with 89 assists.

However, a new winger will be needed if an exit does occur, with a handful of players potentially on Slot’s wishlist in the transfer window.

One such player reportedly being targeted is Newcastle United and England attacker Anthony Gordon, according to the Daily Star.

TEAMtalk meanwhile report that Reds scouts like what they have seen from Leeds United wide player Crysencio Summerville this season.

And there is a third winger that Liverpool seemingly have their eye on, with AS claiming that the Athletic Bilbao man is on their radar.

Gordon produced tallies of 12 goals and 11 assists this season, with Summerville posting figures of 21 and 10 respectively, with the Championship play-off final still to be played.

Williams meanwhile registered tallies of seven goals and 17 assists in Spain, having played 36 matches compared to the 48 of both Gordon and Summerville.

Liverpool should make move for Nico Williams

Much more than goals and assists will, however, factor into Slot’s thinking, with wage demands and future potential among the key issues.

Moreover, Salah’s goal and assist tallies at Anfield will simply not be repeated by any player anytime soon.

The Reds won’t find it easy with any of those potential attacking pursuits, but Williams has emerged as the most exciting option.

The 21-year-old has already proven himself in La Liga and helped Bilbao lift the Copa del Rey trophy, with the Spanish international capable of operating on both wings, although he may have his eyes on a switch to Real Madrid.

Summerville, 22, is currently plying his trade in the Championship and will want to be kept at all costs by Leeds, regardless of their promotion fate this season.

A potential Gordon move to Anfield meanwhile may simply be ruled out due to the winger’s history, with the 23-year-old having come through the ranks across Stanley Park at fierce rivals Everton.
