Mike White’s coaching staff at Georgia is whole again. The third-year Bulldogs basketball coach has tapped Anthony Goins to round out his staff according to a statement from the school. Goins joins UGA after spending the past three seasons at Boston College.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join Georgia Basketball,” Goins said. “Coach White and his staff have done an unbelievable job building the Georgia program the past two years. I could feel the energy and momentum the moment I got on campus. I’m extremely appreciative of Coach White for giving me the opportunity. Coach Grant, the staff and everyone around Boston College have been unbelievable the past three years, but I can’t wait to get to work in Athens!”

Goins, who has also coached at Clemson, Quinnipiac, Yale and Dartmouth in the past 11 years, was a part of a Boston College staff that saw it’s team improve in each of his three seasons there. The Eagles made the NIT after the 2023-2024 season, getting in with a record of 20-16.

Prior to that he helped Clemson reach the NCAA tournament in 2021. When Goins was on staff Quinnipiac, it recorded its first winning season in five years by going 16-15 for the 2018-2019 campaign.

Goins was also a part of a strong run at Yale where the Bulldogs had three straight winning seasons. They finished 22-10 in 2014-2015, winning their first Ivy League title in 12 years. Yale improved upon that the following season with a 23-7 overall record and a 13-1 mark in league play. In his final season there, the Bulldogs won the Ivy League title again and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 54 years. They got in as a 12 seed and upset No. 5 seed Baylor in the tournament to advance to the round of 32.

Goins started his coaching career at Dartmouth. He’s from Greensboro, N.C. and earned a bachelors degree in Sports Management from St. Johns in 2008.
