A primary school has maintained its positive standing with the national education regulator, which praised its inclusive environment and curriculum.
All Saints’ Primary School in Winfarthing received a good rating in its latest Ofsted report, replicating the grade it received from its previous inspection in 2013.
Interim executive headteacher Rhiannon Price said: “We are over the moon with the report.
“Our children made us so very proud throughout the day of the inspection.
“Their resilience shone through to present themselves in the best possible light and effortlessly living the school vision for all to see.”
Inspectors not only praised the school’s effective teaching, which gave its pupils a love of reading, but also its quality curriculum and the high-quality work produced by all pupils, including those with additional needs.
The report said: “Pupils build subject knowledge well, and teachers check what pupils have learned. Teachers provide additional support where pupils need it.
“Staff plan for, and meet, the needs of pupils with SEND. This means that they are fully included in lessons and achieve well.”
Inspectors did find, however, that teaching of phonics was not always as consistent as it should be.
“There is some inconsistency in how well staff teach pupils to read and spell unfamiliar words,” the report added.
“This is because not all staff implement the training they have had, meaning some pupils make slower progress than they might.”
In response, Miss Price said every inspection was not solely focussed on what a school does well, but aimed to give it something to work on.
She added: “In our case, it was just this one area and we are supporting staff through training to ensure consistency in this area for all of our pupils going forward.”
