‘That sort of vibe’: Nedum Onuoha names two Man City players he thinks could leave the club soon

Nedum Onuoha has suggested that two Manchester City players could be leaving the club in the near future.

Over the past few transfer windows, numerous players have waved goodbye to the Manchester club to take the next steps in their careers elsewhere.

Now that another summer window is on the horizon, one pundit and former City player has shared his early thoughts on what this one could hold for the Blues and even named two figures in Pep Guardiola’s squad he thinks could be on their way out.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the ESPN FC YouTube channel, Onuoha had this to say on the matter.

He said: “The Bernardo Silva one exists every summer. He is going to Barcelona, he is going to Barcelona, he is going to Barcelona.

“Well, I wouldn’t be as surprised this year, and I have heard the stories about Grealish potentially going somewhere else as well.

“I think it would be a shame if they let either of those two go, but I am getting that sort of vibe. To be honest, I feel like the next year to 18 months, it’s going to be a big transition for the team.”

City can’t afford to lose two big players this summer

As Onuoha mentioned, Silva has previously been linked with a move away from City, with the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain being mentioned with interest in him.

Last summer saw the Portuguese international sign a contract extension until 2026, although his current deal apparently has a release clause worth £50m that could spell the end of his time at City if another side triggers it.

Then with Grealish, who Onuoha also mentioned, he has recently been linked with a move to Bayern Munich after only starting 10 of the 20 Premier League games he appeared in this season.

Bearing in mind how City have the smallest squad in the Premier League, we feel that they can’t afford to lose any players without sufficiently replacing them.

Looking ahead to the summer window, if they can’t do anything to stop Silva’s release clause from being triggered, they should definitely keep hold of Grealish and still look to strengthen the squad wherever possible.
