Tottenham eyeing ‘one of a kind’ midfielder this summer, his club are expecting him to leave

Tottenham Hotspur now have their eyes on a young midfield talent who has attracted some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Since Ange Postecoglou arrived at Tottenham, the Australian’s recruitment has centred around players of the age 22 or younger.

Micky van de Ven arrived and has highlighted the good work going on behind the scenes by the Spurs recruitment staff.

Then there is the exciting summer arrival of Lucas Bergvall who Tottenham were able to secure ahead of the European powerhouse, Barcelona.

Spurs are clearly looking ahead to the long-term success of the club and there may well be another youngster on their radar for this summer.

Change is on the horizon at Tottenham – according to Postecoglou – and adding to the squad ahead of a season in Europe is going to be critical for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham keen on one of Europe’s most exciting young talents

There is a seriously exciting crop of young talent coming through the ranks at Hotspur Way from both the U21s and U18s.

The likes of Will Lankshear and Jamie Donley are two players who are proving themselves to be potential breakthrough stars over the coming months.

Donley was included in the recent post-season trip to Melbourne, Australia where he was handed an opportunity to showcase his talent Down Under.

However, Tottenham are now being linked with a potential swoop for an 18-year-old who is attracting interest from some of Europe’s finest.

According to reports coming out of France, Spurs are one of the clubs who are showing an interest in 18-year-old midfielder Desire Doue.

Rennes are expecting to lose their young prospect this summer with several clubs being credited with an interest.

Tottenham’s north London rivals, Arsenal, and Manchester United are two of the other sides from across Europe who have their eyes on Doue.

What Desire Doue’s teammate said about his potential

Having now racked up two full seasons in Ligue 1, Doue has announced himself as a player to watch for the future.

The 18-year-old made 31 league appearances this season and provided Rennes with four goals and five assists.

And this saw one of his teammates, Baptiste Santamaria, wax lyrical about the youngster earlier in the campaign.

“He’s a very talented player with a great sense of football. But he’s still young. But he’s a player who aspires to go to the biggest clubs. He’s one of a kind: he likes to hit the ball but he’s solid on his feet,” he told TNT Sport.

“Desire’s technical, percussive and physical qualities are quite incredible. When he becomes more consistent, he’ll be unplayable. For his age, he’s the most gifted youngster I’ve seen in my career.”
