Ashley Cole has said that one key figure at Manchester City is better than anyone else in football right now.

Having 701 club appearances across his playing career, winning numerous titles along the way including three Premier Leagues, seven FA Cups and one Champions League, the former left-back has played alongside and against many top-level players and featured for some top managers.

Now that the Citizens have won their sixth Premier League title in seven years, the former Chelsea and Arsenal defender has shared some significant praise for someone who has played a key role in the Manchester club’s latest title victory.

In a recent short shared on the Mirror Football YouTube channel, Cole was asked to share a word or phrase to sum up the names that were put to him.

When asked to think of something to represent Pep Guardiola, Cole said this.

He said: “The best.”

Guardiola is one of the most decorated managers ever

After successful spells in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich where he won six league titles and numerous other trophies, the 53-year-old took charge of City back in 2016.

Since then, the £378k-a-week manager has lifted six Premier League titles, four League Cups, the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup as well as two FA Cups, which could be three if City beat Manchester United in today’s final.

Having been named UEFA’s Men’s Coach of the Year after seeing his side win the Treble last season and more recently winning the Premier League manager of the season award, it’s undeniable that Guardiola is one of the best managers of all time.

Bearing in mind how Cole was coached by big-name manager such as Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti among others, the fact that he has named Guardiola as the best manager around show just how much he admires the Catalan.
