Report: Club now want to sell player Oliver Glasner knows well for £9m, Crystal Palace are interested

A European giant is now willing to sell a player Oliver Glasner knows well – and Crystal Palace are interested.

Strong progress has already been made by Dougie Freedman on the recruitment front as a deal to sign Chadi Riad from Real Betis is all but complete – pending a medical for the Moroccan on Monday.

Now, talks to sign another target could start to materialise as Crystal Palace receive encouragement…

Crystal Palace given boost in Filip Kostic pursuit

A story from Tutto Juve in Italy now claims that Juventus expect Filip Kostic to pack his bags and leave Turin this summer.

The Italian news outlet mention that the Serbia international – who made 45 appearances under Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt, winning the UEFA Europa League in 2022 – is considering a move abroad, and it is stated that Crystal Palace are particularly interested.

Tutto Juve add that Juventus only want €10m (£9m) to sell Kostic as the Serie A side attempt to make a number of sales, freeing up the financial wriggle room to sign their primary targets.

The Juventus No.11 – who has been compared to Gareth Bale – has made 29 Serie A appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, providing four assists.

Kostic actually won the 2021/22 UEFA Europa League Player of the Season award when Glasner brought European glory to Frankfurt, so the pair have enjoyed many a special moment together.

Serbia international could help Tyrick Mitchell

Kostic is something of a master when it comes to playing the left wing-back role.

The 31-year-old was even matching the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jadon Sancho for assists back in 2022, such was the effectiveness of his role down that flank under Glasner.

Having just won the Holmesdale Fanatics Player of the Season award after a fantastic 2023/24 campaign – in which he arguably deserved a spot in England’s UEFA EURO 2024 squad – it would be harsh to replace Mitchell with Kostic.

However, we instead see this bargain £9m move as a deal which could help the England international improve in that left wing-back role.

The pair could also play together as well – a quick glance at Kostic’s Transfermarkt page shows he has actually operated in several different attacking positions, even as a striker.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we can definitely see this deal materialising.
