Liverpool told they might have just done something ‘perfect’ as soon as Jurgen Klopp has left

Liverpool are moving into a new era, as Jurgen Klopp’s exit continues to reverberate.

The Reds sent the German manager off into what could well be retirement following last Sunday’s win over Wolves.

Since then, Klopp has been updating Liverpool supporters on his movements via social media. Whatever he does next, he’ll have millions watching on and missing him.

But Liverpool must move on. FSG have put a good structure in place, with Michael Edwards heading up the new-look football operations team.

The biggest change of all though is having Arne Slot replace Klopp as manager, or head coach as is the case. According to one of Slot’s players at Feyenoord though, Liverpool could have just struck gold.

Liverpool told why Arne Slot could be ‘perfect’ for them

Looking at the managerial market right now, it isn’t exactly in the best shape. Liverpool’s top three candidates appear to have been Slot, Ernesto Valverde and Luciano Spalletti.

Although there was not initial great excitement over the Dutch coach taking charge at Anfield, all the signs point towards him being a good fit.

This notion is confirmed by current Feyenoord captain Gernot Trauner. Speaking to Flashscore about Slot’s move to Liverpool, Trauner outlined what Reds fans can expect from their new boss.

“Of course, it hurts us, we would have liked to have had him with us for longer,” the 32-year-old admitted. “But I’m not crying for him because it was clear that he would take the next step at some point. It was only a matter of time before he found the right club. Liverpool and Arne Slot could be a perfect match. I wish him all the best.

“He was a very important factor in me coming to Feyenoord and has always relied on me,” Trauner adds. “He’s a tremendous specialist and has incredible ideas in terms of ball possession, build-up play and positioning. A lot of detail in running and passing. There is no pass without an idea behind it.

“He tries to move the opponents and find open spaces. He has a very good feel for what he has to tell the team in meetings, how he has to treat people, and whether he has to tickle someone.

“He is of a very, very high level. I can definitely imagine that things will also go very well for him in the Premier League.”

Arne Slot told the ‘secret’ to success at Liverpool

It must be daunting for Slot coming in to take over from one of the most loved managers in the club’s history.

The 45-year-old does indeed sound like a very impressive coach. But this is Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp we’re talking about.

No matter what he’s done before and the successes he’s masterminded, the slate has been wiped completely clean. As a result, Slot would be wise to listen to those who have come in and done well at Anfield.

Someone who falls into that category is Adam Lallana. The midfielder won a Premier League and a Champions League with Liverpool and has advised Slot to simply be himself when arriving at the AXA Training Centre.

According to Lallana, that is the ‘secret’.

If Slot follows that mantra, then Trauner’s testimony would suggest he’s going to be a hit. Let’s hope so, anyway.
