Heung-min Son shares heartfelt message to Tottenham fans after returning from Australia

Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son has issued an end-of-season message to the fans after returning from Australia.

It has been a strange old season for Tottenham who have played only one game more than the bare minimum for a Premier League side.

And yet, it has been a season which has been plagued by injuries for Ange Postecoglou‘s men which have seriously hindered their campaign.

One player who has not suffered from a serious injury this campaign is Heung-min Son, but the South Korean has been absent through international duty at times.

The 31-year-old was handed the captain’s armband following Hugo Lloris‘ omission and Harry Kane‘s exit from the club.

As the Spurs players now disperse for their summer break, the Spurs captain has issued a message to the fans with another big trip checked off in the South Korean’s season.

What Heung-min Son said after a turbulent campaign at Tottenham

The 2023/24 campaign ultimately marked improvement in Postecoglou’s first season as Spurs finished three places higher than they did last time out.

European football will be returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the form of the Europa League with a fifth-placed finish.

And a big portion of the club’s success this season can be traced back to the goals provided by their 31-year-old captain.

Despite having lost his partner in crime to Bayern Munich, Son was still able to provide one of his most productive Premier League campaigns to date.

Spurs landed back in England on Thursday afternoon following their brief trip to Melbourne, Australia and Son has taken to Instagram to share his thoughts on the season.

“Finally home. Resting up. Looking back at the year. A season of ups and downs, but a season of progress,” Son wrote.

“The first thing I think of is how we’ve grown stronger and closer as a team and club. We have an excitement around the place looking forward to the next few years. We’re going to rest up over the summer and come out next season even stronger.

“A special message of thanks to all of you, the supporters. This season we have had some of the most special atmospheres I’ve experienced yet. As my first year as captain, to be leading the boys is a privilege and something I’m so proud of. I’m looking forward to seeing you all again soon. Lots of love, Sonny.”

Australian crowd provided hilarious reaction to Heung-min Son substitution

On Wednesday, Spurs played Newcastle United at the Melbourne Cricket Ground where Son played just under 60 minutes.

Despite it being a friendly game, Son was able to impress with his intensity against the Premier League opposition.

And that was clearly appreciated by the fans in attendance as his withdrawal was greeted by a scattering of joking boos from the crowd.

A number of South Koreans are also believed to have been in attendance to support their national hero.

Barring two World Cup Qualifiers next month for South Korea, Son now has a few weeks to rest up ahead of Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia.
