Man Utd’s FA Cup win may have boosted Arsenal chances of signing ‘superb’ £100m target

Manchester United defied the odds this weekend as Arsenal’s Premier League rival beat Manchester City to lift the FA Cup.

Few had given the Red Devils any hope of victory at Wembley Stadium this Saturday given all the chaos that is raging behind the scenes at United and the fact the Manchester giants just endured their worst Premier League season ever.

Despite that, though, Erik Ten Hag’s side managed to do what few sides have done in recent years and beat City in a competitive fixture, with United booking their place in next season’s UEFA Europa League as a result.

And the win could have also given Arsenal a boost in their race to sign a £100m-rated target.

Arsenal could land Alexander Isak with Newcastle now out of Europe

As a result of United’s FA Cup win, Newcastle United are now out of European competition for next season, a financial blow that could now put Arsenal back in the running to sign Alexander Isak.

Lauded by Alan Shearer as a ‘superb’ striker, the £100m-rated Swedish international has been linked with a move to Arsenal for some time, though reports suggest that Newcastle are in no mood to sell Isak this summer.

With rumours even suggesting that Newcastle could offer Isak a new contract, Arsenal might have felt they had little chance of signing the 24-year-old striker, yet United’s FA Cup win and qualification into Europe could change everything.

Indeed, Newcastle’s struggles to sign players without breaking PSR and FFP rules has been well-documented, and with no European windfall, Arsenal could use the opportunity to pounce for Isak, who could be a perfect summer signing.

Arsenal have to make transfer swoop after Manchester United’s FA Cup win

Few would have predicted United to actually do the business against City in the FA Cup, yet Ten Hag again showed his credentials in a big way at Wembley Stadium, and Arsenal could benefit greatly from the result.

Newcastle find themselves in a position where they could have to sell two players, with Isak someone who could be tempted by a move to Arsenal with interest so strong in the Swedish international.

And the Gunners simply have to swoop for the centre-forward, who seems like a perfect fit to lead the line for Mikel Arteta’s side next season alongside Bukayo Saka.
