Watch Brendan Rodgers' Saturday night on-the-mic address to celebrating Bhoys fans at Celtic Park

It’s a fine, fine, fine Sunday morning to be waking up as a Celtic fan. Despite a nervy 90 minutes in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden, Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys have emerged as league and cup double winners for the 2023/24 season.

Adam Idah is the big hero this weekend. The on-loan striker showed quick reactions and cool composure to slam the ball past Jack Butland in the 90th minute of the final, after the goalkeeper parried a shot right into his path.

His winner sparked scenes of celebration at Hampden with the players and fans uniting to party one last time together this season.

The festivities spilt over to Celtic Park, too, as Rodgers brought his team and the Scottish Cup trophy back to Paradise to address congregating supporters.

Taking the microphone, the Celtic boss said [footage embedded below]: “Just before you go away and celebrate I just want you to remember one thing. When you support Celtic you support one of the biggest clubs in world football. From the outside, this is a massive club but what we must always never, ever forget is that we are all family. We have to look after each others’ family and make sure going into next season we’re even tighter and even stronger.

Brendan Rodgers keen to keep Celtic unity

There was too much division at Celtic in the season’s early stages. The fans weren’t on the same page as the manager and, like it or not, that can impact the performances of the players.

Rodgers is clearly eager to foster the good feeling around the club right now and take that into next term. He knows that the power of Celtic is at its full potential when everyone is pushing in the same direction.

With a double in the bank, he now has the platform to push the team onto new heights at home and abroad.

Now it’s up to the board to appropriately back him in the summer transfer window. If they do that, Celtic fans will buy into more excitement. They’ll look forward with hopes and dreams, which is exactly what Rodgers wants to harness.
