Premier League club have now 'offered' to sign former Arsenal ace who Arteta sold for £9m

A Premier League club have reportedly made an offer to sign a former Arsenal star who Mikel Arteta sold for just £9m.

The Gunners have a long and frankly embarrassing list of players sold for well below market value, with Serge Gnabry’s reported £7m move to Werder Bremen arguably the worst offender given how good the Bayern Munich winger now is.

With Arsenal experiencing similar stories with the likes of Donyell Malen and Wojciech Szczesny, it’s easy to see why most fans haven’t been pleased with some of the transfer business the club have done over the years.

And one player sold by Arteta could now be heading back to the Premier League for a big fee.

Former Arsenal star Matteo Guendouzi subject to Premier League offer

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, a Premier League club have ‘offered’ to sign former Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, who is expected to leave Serie A side Lazio this summer.

Schira wrote on Twitter: “A Premier League club has offered €25M to Lazio to sign Mateo Guendouzi. The French midfielder is not in a good relationship with coach Tudor and is reflecting on his future.”

Sold by Arteta to Olympique Marseille for just £9m, Guendouzi enjoyed a career revival of sorts back in Ligue 1 that saw the midfielder selected for France’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad and win a big move to Lazio.

However, a return to the Premier League could be on the cards for the 25-year-old midfielder, and Arsenal could be about to face another shadow from the past in the form of Guendouzi next season.

Guendouzi could make Arsenal regret £9m sale next season

Guendouzi has been teased with a return to the Premier League for some time since leaving Arsenal, yet summer could be the window where the French international actually makes his comeback to England.

And for the Gunners, Guendouzi could make the north London side regret the £9m transfer with Marseille, with the 25-year-old a player who will want to show how good he now is since leaving Arsenal.

Indeed, a move to the Premier League will be an fascinating one for Guendouzi, and this summer could now see the former Arsenal man return to the English top-flight in what would be an interesting move.
