Club make summer decision on £100m Arsenal striker target who Ian Wright dubbed ‘fantastic’

Arsenal could reportedly be dealt a major transfer blown regarding a £100m-rated striker target rated by Ian Wright.

With the Premier League season now over, attentions have already fully shifted to the summer transfer window, where Arsenal are expected to move for a new leading attacker despite Kai Havertz’s form in the second half of the season.

Both Micah Richards and Ben Foster have suggested in the last 24 hours that a goalscoring striker is exactly what Arsenal need if they’re to bridge the gap between second-place and first, with Manchester City again winning the Premier League

Yet Arsenal’s plans for a new striker might be over before they’ve even begun.

Newcastle to offer new contract to Arsenal-linked Alexander Isak

According to I News, Newcastle United are set to offer Alexander Isak a new contract amid ongoing reports that Arsenal are strongly interested in signing the 24-year-old Swedish international.

Recently lauded by Arsenal legend Wright as a ‘fantastic’ striker, Isak is coming off the back of an incredible year in the Premier League where the forward bagged an impressive 21 goals.

With the likes of Paul Merson already suggesting that Isak could take Arsenal to the next level, it makes sense why Newcastle are now working fast to secure the attacker to a new contract.

Indeed, Isak would be a dream signing for Arsenal this summer, yet after this transfer update, the Gunners could soon be left with no choice but to drop their interest in the striker if a new deal is agreed.

Gunners might have to drop Isak pursuit already

Newcastle have always been in a strong position to keep hold of Isak this summer, yet this update could all-but end Arsenal’s interest in signing the former Real Sociedad star in the coming months.

Already valued at £100m, Arsenal face a battle they cannot win if they decide to chase Isak, even if the Swedish superstar is the ideal option to lead the line in the years to come in north London.

Yet with Newcastle setting their stall out early for Isak, a change in direction could be needed for Arsenal, who have other targets in mind with the window opening next month.
