Newcastle player Eddie Howe really liked now confirms he's leaving this summer

A number of players are expected to leave Newcastle United this summer.

Indeed, the club are reportedly looking to raise money through player sales as they battle against the FFP restrictions that left them unable to sign anyone in January.

Callum Wilson is perhaps the headline example of someone who could potentially depart, while Miguel Almiron is another who seemingly may go.

Kieran Trippier, a previously key figure under Eddie Howe at Newcastle, is also said to be facing a rather uncertain future.

Still, it’s not only some of the bigger names who are calling an end to their time at St James’ Park.

One player, someone Howe was said to “really like” has confirmed his departure.

Amadou Diallo confirms he’s leaving Newcastle this summer

Young forward Amadou Diallo, who made his Premier League debut earlier this season and was named in seven senior squads across all competitions, has announced he will be leaving upon the expiration of his contract at the start of next month.

He took to Instagram, to post: “My time at Newcastle United has come to an end. Firstly , I would like to thank the club for giving me a great opportunity to play for them.

“I would also like to give a massive thank you to the fans for their support as I really enjoyed representing the club.”

Amadou Diallo was once fast-tracked alongside Jamal Musiala and Jude Bellingham

It’s a shame for Diallo, who was tipped for great things as a youngster.

Though still only 21, things have not worked out for him at first-team level just yet.

Back in 2021, England youth coach Kevin Betsy confirmed Diallo was fast-tracked through the international system alongside the likes of Jamal Musiala and Jude Bellingham, who are now of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively.

It will be fascinating to see where he lands next. There is clearly talent there but first-team opportunities have been limited and Diallo is now at the age where he needs to start playing regular football.

His story at Newcastle is over but that doesn’t mean he cannot go on to have a successful career.
