Hansi Flick wants to make ‘incredible’ Arsenal target his first Barcelona signing if hired

Hansi Flick reportedly wants to make a rumoured Arsenal transfer target one of his first signings as FC Barcelona manager.

The German is set to replace Xavi Hernandez as the new head coach of Barcelona, with Flick making his return to club football three years after leaving Bayern Munich having won the treble with the Bundesliga giants.

Just like at Arsenal, it’s going to be a big summer of spending for Barcelona, who could see a number of big names leave Catalonia in their attempt to raise funds to execute the signings needed by Flick and his new team.

And one such target is already reportedly on Arsenal’s radar.

Barcelona eyeing swoop for Arsenal-link Nico Williams

According to Sport, Barcelona are interested in Athletic Club superstar Nico Williams, who this week has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal after an impressive season with the Basque club.

As per the report, Williams could be one of the first signings Flick makes as Barcelona manager once the German is hired by the La Liga giants, with a winger on the agenda for Barca.

Lauded as ‘incredible’ by Athletic teammate and brother Inaki Williams, the Spanish international is set for a big summer with a number of big teams now chasing the attacking superstar.

Yet for Arsenal, Barcelona’s interest in the winger could be a major problem for the Gunners, who could lose out to the La Liga side even with their financial situation as bad as it is.

Arsenal could lose out on Williams to European giants

Whilst Barcelona are nowhere near their former best, the Catalan side are still one of the most appealing clubs in world football with Flick’s pending appointment a decision that could put the La Liga giants back on the right track.

And for Williams, who could be one of the first players Flick targets as manager of Barcelona, a move to the Camp Nou could be more appealing than a Premier League switch, even to a club like Arsenal.

Indeed, Williams has a big decision to make this summer when it comes to where he wants to play his football, and Arsenal could end up losing on the Athletic star if Barcelona end up fronting the money needed to sign the forward.
