Report: Newcastle now ready to offer £148,000-a-week Manchester United target a contract

Newcastle are now ready to make a move to sign a player wanted by Manchester United.

The Magpies have been alert to the free agent market ever since the 2023/24 campaign ended, as Eddie Howe is allegedly close to signing Tosin Adarabioyo – when the defender’s contract expires at Fulham.

There is also interest in another impending free agent as Bournemouth No.5 Lloyd Kelly sees his deal expire.

Now, Newcastle are looking to start talks with another soon-to-be free agent, one who has also been linked to Manchester United

The France international – who has also been the subject of an approach from Manchester United, according to TEAMtalk – is said to be of strong interest to the Magpies, who are described as having large financial backing in their pursuit of the Juventus No.25’s signature.

Tutto Juve add that Juventus hope to keep Rabiot in Turin, although admiring glances from the Premier League have led to a ‘possible’ departure for the Frenchman, who scored five goals in 35 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign.

France international could replace Bruno Guimaraes

If Rabiot does end up at Newcastle, the £148,000-a-week midfield maestro could replace Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazil international is believed to be a target for Arsenal – according to the Evening Standard – and the Gunners even think they could sign the South American for £80m, which is £20m less than his release clause.

Of course, Howe would prefer to keep his No.39 on Tyneside, although the Evening Standard claim that the Brazilian’s representatives are inviting offers from English clubs – over the likes of PSG – adding an interesting dimension to this transfer saga.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Rabiot could replace the 26-year-old this summer.
