'I'm impressed': Gary Lineker says he's seen a young player at Man United who reminds him of Jude Bellingham

Gary Lineker has heaped praise on one Manchester United youngster and has even compared him to Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham.

The Red Devils had a disappointing end to their Premier League season, but fans have forgotten about that following their incredible win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

That has raised the spirits among Manchester United supporters, and many think their future is really bright after watching their side at Wembley.

Lineker was blown away by one player in particular.

Gary Lineker shares why Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo reminds him of Jude Bellingham

Kobbie Mainoo has become a star at Manchester United.

Everybody knew the 19-year-old was a very exciting young talent, but nobody would’ve predicted that he would become one of the club’s best players in the 2023/24 season.

Mainoo played 33 times for Manchester United’s senior side in all competitions in the recently-concluded campaign, and he was absolutely incredible.

The youngster arguably saved his best performance for the last game of the campaign – the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley.

Mainoo scored what proved to be the winner for the Red Devils, and he was simply outstanding in the middle of the park.

He was even better than superstars like Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne, which is just sensational for someone as young as him.

On the Rest is Football podcast, Micah Richards asked Lineker how highly he rates Mainoo. The former Tottenham man made a big claim about him.

He said: “Sky is the limit, I think. I’m impressed with his remarkable maturity, his confidence. I think he knows how good he is.

“He reminds me in that sense of Bellingham. I know that’s a big shout, but he’s two years younger. I think he’s remarkably talented, I think he will feature in the Euros, I don’t know where and when. Gareth was in the stand and everyone in the ground could see how good he was, how confident he was.

“You can see he’s got almost an aura about him, the right sort of confidence.”

Mainoo and one other Manchester United player join Cristiano Ronaldo in history books

Manchester United were the deserved winners against their local rivals at Wembley.

The Red Devils went into the game as the underdogs, but they were by far the better team. Erik ten Hag got his tactics spot on.

The matchwinners for Manchester United were Mainoo and his teenage pal Alejandro Garncaho, who both found the net against City.

The two players made their way into the history books by becoming just the third and fourth teenagers in Manchester United’s history to score in the FA Cup final.

The two others who have done it are Norman Whiteside in 1983 and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2004.
