Eden Hazard shares whether he thinks Roberto De Zerbi would be a good appointment for Chelsea

Eden Hazard has been speaking about Chelsea’s current manager situation.

Chelsea are without a manager right now following Mauricio Pochettino‘s exit by mutual consent last week.

Since his departure from Stamford Bridge, the Blues have been linked with several names, including Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca and Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna.

Roberto De Zerbi has also emerged as a contender for the Chelsea job over the last few days.

In fact, it had been claimed that he was the favourite to succeed Pochettino, and Hazard has now given his thoughts on the former Brighton & Hove Albion boss.

Eden Hazard on Roberto De Zerbi

During his time at Chelsea, Hazard worked under some top managers. That includes the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

De Zerbi may not be on their level, with the two former Chelsea bosses both winning the Premier League title during their stints in west London.

However, Hazard thinks the 44-year-old could be a good option for his former club, though he was not one hundred percent certain.

When asked by talkSPORT if De Zerbi would be a good appointment for Chelsea, the Blues legend simply replied: “Maybe.”

Who could be a good alternative to Roberto De Zerbi?

Right now, Chelsea do not look to be considering anyone outside of De Zerbi, Maresca and Thomas Frank.

According to Sky Sports, those three are the leading candidates for the job.

However, if De Zerbi is the man who Chelsea really want but they end up failing to appoint him for whatever reason, then someone like Xavi would probably be the best alternative.

You can see similarities in their styles, with both managers wanting their team to dominate possession.

According to WhoScored, Barcelona had the highest ball possession in La Liga this season (64.7%), while Brighton had the fourth highest in the Premier League under De Zerbi (60.2%).

Xavi is, of course, also available after being sacked by Barcelona.
