'Growing up supporting Celtic'... Adam Idah shares what it really felt like scoring vs Rangers

Scoring for Celtic at any time in the green and white Hoops is the dream for many young fans growing up supporting the club.

And to score against Rangers in a Glasgow Derby will also be one on the bucket list for any young Celtic player who has dreams of making it in the Parkhead first-team.

But to do it in the last minute against your rivals in a Scottish Cup final? That is fairytale stuff that fans like me and thousands of others can only dream of.

Well, except one. Adam Idah accomplished it on Saturday afternoon when his goal sealed the Hampden win and brought a double home to Paradise.

Idah: Scottish Cup winner’s ‘incredible feeling’

The Republic of Ireland striker joined the club on loan in January and has been an instant hit with the Celtic fans.

Contributing with many important goals over his short spell at the club, Idah’s eighth goal of the season at Hampden is arguably his most important.

And when asked how it felt to score the winning goal against Rangers in a Scottish Cup final, the Irishman admitted that it was ‘hard to put into words’.

Idah said [Scottish Football Podcast], “It’s hard to put into words. It’s amazing. To finish the game in that way is an incredible feeling and growing up supporting Celtic and to win the cup in the last minute of the game, what a feeling.

“The minute I scored there was nothing going through my mind. I just wanted to celebrate and I wanted the ref to blow the whistle.

“After the last game at Ibrox, I thought I sealed the deal but unfortunately not.

“But I got to do today, so it’s unbelievable.”

And now that the curtain has been brought down on yet another successful Celtic season, all the talk will be about Idah and his Celtic future.

Should Rodgers pay what Norwich City are looking for for the 23-year-old striker? In my opinion, it’s a no-brainer.

And it seems the Celtic manager feels the same. Let’s hope the deal is concluded sooner rather than later and Idah will be permanently wearing the Hoops from next season onwards.
