Tottenham fans react after the news they’ve just heard about Pedro Porro

Tottenham Hotspur fans have now been reacting to the news they have just heard about right-back Pedro Porro on Monday.

The season is now complete following Tottenham‘s post-season friendly trip against Newcastle United in Melbourne, Australia.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side have completed their first campaign under the 58-year-old where they were able to secure themselves a spot in the Europa League.

A successful season on the whole saw a number of individual displays which will have impressed Postecoglou going into the new campaign.

One of them was Pedro Porro with the Spanish right-back nailing down his spot under the Australian manager and becoming one of the best performers in the Spurs side.

However, there was some surprising news to emerge on Monday morning involving the 24-year-old full-back which left Spurs fans absolutely stunned.

Pedro Porro handed disappointing news after sensational season

Having been signed for Antonio Conte’s right wing-back position, there will have been natural concerns about how Porro may have adapted to Postecoglou’s flat-back four.

It has turned out that Porro has had no problems in taking to life under the Australian as he has continued to show why Spurs bought him last January.

The Spaniard returned four goals and seven assists across all competitions this season including two goals in his final three Premier League games.

However, this has turned out to not be enough for Porro to earn himself a call-up to Spain’s provisional squad for this summer’s Euros.

And Spurs have fans been left baffled by Luis de la Fuente’s decision not to include the right-back in his squad as many took to social media to voice their frustration.

One fan was disgusted by the decision, saying, ‘Appalling decision. He’s had a brilliant season.’ Whilst another took aim at the Spanish side, adding, ‘They won’t go far anyway’.

The addition of Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella was also picked up on, as one fan said, ‘Cucceralla in but no Porro ridiculous’. But another fan looked at the positive by saying, ‘It’s good for us!!’

One fan feels the disappointment could push Porro onto a big 2024/25 campaign, they said, ‘An angry Pedro Porro is going to be the best RB in the world next season’. Whilst another added, ‘Oh well. The silver lining is he can’t get injured and will have a proper rest.’

Pedro Porro’s Spain omission may be good news for Tottenham

Given how good Porro was this season for Spurs, it is a real shame for the player that he was not rewarded by his national side ahead of the major tournament.

Although Spurs fans feel Porro should have been included in the squad, there may be one positive to take from the news.

Porro will now have a full summer to recover from the 2023/24 campaign and there is a much lower chance that he will pick up an injury ahead of the new campaign.

Spurs will be hoping the news does not disappoint Porro too much and hopefully, he will go into the campaign with a point to prove.
