Travis Kelce has addressed recent comments his teammate Harrison Butker made that drew backlash from Taylor Swift fans.

Travis Kelce reacts to Harrison Butker speech and backlash

Speaking on the New Heights podcast episode co-hosted with his brother Jason, uploaded on Friday, May 24th, Travis shared his thoughts on his friend and teammate’s viral graduation address.

“I know Harry and I saw him in the building,” he began. “I call him Harry, I might be the only person who calls him Harry. That just tells you, I mean, I’ve known him for seven-plus, eight-plus years and I cherish him as a teammate.”

Travis proceeded: “[Harrison has] treated friends and family that I’ve introduced to him with nothing but respect and kindness and that’s how he treats everyone. When it comes down to his views and what he said at the commencement speech, you know, those are his [views]. I can’t say I agree with the majority of it, or just about any of it, outside of just him loving his family or his kids.”

Wrapping up the more direct acknowledgment of his thoughts on the matter, Travis concluded: “I don’t think I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views of how he goes about life.”

He went on to explain he grew up in a background that favored the diversity of different classes, races, etc, suggesting his views juxtapose those expressed by Harrison.

Swifties say ‘Trav knew Taylor wasn’t gonna like this’ on New Heights

Millions have witnessed Harrison’s comments on abortion and a range of other topics he touched upon in his controversial graduation ceremony speech. Even a petition has emerged, compelling the Kansas City Chiefs to kick him from the team.

Swifties were particularly condemning of Harrison, upset by Travis’ obvious association with him as a member of the same team.

As a result, Tay’s fans have been waiting to hear what Travis would say on the subject, and now they know. However, her fans have reacted to a clip from the same episode.

“My wife, I think she was a little frustrated with some of the comments,” Jason began sharing a joke with Travis. “… I said, ‘Listen, you’re gonna need to go back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich. I’m listening to the game right now.'”

Travis laughed before hiding his face, uncertain where to go from there. “We were doing so good,” he told Jason through laughter. Taylor fans have been quick to pick up on his reaction to the whole situation on X/Twitter.

“Trav really hesitated there he knew Taylor wasn’t gonna like this one,” one of them argued.

“Taylor hasn’t said anything,” another reacted to the clip. “Apparently she’s fine with it and having a misogynistic boyfriend. Ick.”
