'Gifted' TV star 'blows Simon Cowell's mind' and 'brings grown men to tears'

Over his decades as a talent show judge, Simon Cowell has gained a reputation as a harsh critic. The Britain’s Got Talent star is rarely lost for words, even at the most unique of acts. But, this May, Simon is clearly taken aback by Innocent Masuku’s talent.

Britain’s Got Talent star Innocent hails from South Africa and lives in London. During his audition, Simon asked him if he thought he’d win the show, Innocent said “Yes,” and asked the judge if he was “ready” before performing on the BGT stage for the first time.

Simon Cowell thinks Innocent Masuku is ‘wonderful’

During Innocent’s audition, he blew everyone away and got “4000 yeses” after performing Caruso on stage.

After his performance, Simon Cowell asked: “I’m really curious, have you had people say you’re not very good?”

Innocent admitted he was told “You won’t get very far with opera, so stop…” as he held back tears.

Simon said: “I hope this idiot is watching this right now because that was wonderful.”

He added how the 33-year-old singer is “wonderful” and “powerful” and “really deserves this break.”

Amanda Holden said: “…hands down in 17 years by far the best opera singer we’ve ever had.”

More compliments came in from the other judges, as Alesha Dixon said the performance was “overwhelming,” adding how it’s Innocent’s “calling.”

Bruno Tonioli agreed the singer is “special.”

Simon fumbles his words

During Britain’s Got Talent’s May 27 episode, Innocent performed Hans Zimmer’s Now We Are Free and blew the judges away once again.

After his performance, Alesha told him he was “the one to beat,” adding how she had “chills” up her arms.

Amanda called Innocent “amazing,” before Simon gave his feedback.

The BGT judge said: “You were very very very good when you auditioned and tonight I thought you were incredible.”

Simon continued, but seemed to fumble some of his words: “You are incredibly talented. You have that presence about you… your control over the song, everything about it was immaculate. I wanted you to do well tonight and you did it… This is how you do it.”

Bruno said the singer performed the song, which is from the movie Gladiator, “like a triumphant hero.”

Fans commented on the judge’s feedback on YouTube, writing: “I’ve never seen Simon stutter the way he did… Was so impressed it blew his mind and took his words and articulation.”

More said of Innocent’s rendition of the song: “Hard not to get emotional, what a gift.”

And: “I’m a 63 year old bloke who’s just been drawn to tears listening to this singing, absolutely unreal, well done Innocent.”
