Tottenham youngster claims he’s quite similar to 'unbelievable' Harry Kane

A Tottenham Hotspur youngster has heaped praise on Harry Kane and claimed he’s quite similar to the former Spurs star.

Tottenham certainly aren’t short of exciting prospects coming through their academy set-up at the moment.

The Under-21s side became Premier League 2 champions on Sunday after beating Sunderland 3-1 in the playoffs final.

We’ve seen a couple of Tottenham’s academy products make their debuts under Ange Postecoglou this season.

Jamie Donley and Mikey Moore both earned minutes under the Aussie while the likes of Leo Black, Tyrese Hall, Rio Kyerematen, George Abbott and Yago Santiago featured in last week’s post-season friendly against Newcastle United in Melbourne.

One youngster who is yet to make his Spurs debut but has starred for the U21s this term is Will Lankshear.

The 19-year-old netted 25 times in 26 games this season and after bagging a brace in the playoffs final against Sunderland, he spoke about his admiration for the club’s all-time top goalscorer Harry Kane.

Will Lankshear makes Kane claim

Kane departed for Bayern Munich last summer but remains the best player to come through the ranks at Spurs in recent history.

Understandably, the England captain has provided real inspiration for Tottenham’s academy players.

Now, Lankshear has told Football.London that he believes he’s fairly similar to Kane and Manchester City star Erling Haaland.

“Harry Kane is unbelievable, Haaland as well,” the youngster said. “I really admire them two. They’re similar to me in ways, but obviously if I could have a quarter of their career I’d be very happy!”

Lankshear and Kane’s academy records compared

It’s well-documented that Kane endured plenty of hardship before breaking through at Spurs.

The striker struggled to make an impact during loan spells at Leicester City and Norwich City before emerging as the star he is today.

Due to his four loan spells away from the club, Kane only made 13 appearances for Tottenham’s Under-21s side, scoring nine and providing the same number of assists.

As for Lankshear, he’s netted 25 goals and provided three assists in 32 appearances for the U21s.

The talented young striker is attracting interest from former Spurs midfielder Michael Carrick at Middlesborough.

With Tottenham eyeing a new striker for the first-team this summer, a loan switch could benefit Lankshear as he continues his development.
