Man City experts disagree on 23/24 goal of the season with two picks ahead of Phil Foden

Premier League champions Manchester City scored a whopping 149 goals during the 2023/24 season but which was the best?

Manchester City became Premier League champions for an unprecedented fourth successive season and they did so in style with a ridiculous amount of quality goals.

From Phil Foden bending them into the top corner, Rodri smashing home from the edge of the box and Erling Haaland clinically sticking it in the back of the net, there are plenty of contenders for Goal of the Season.

Manchester City News writers have given their picks below.

James Thompson – Phil Foden vs West Ham United

Foden has scored many beautiful goals throughout what has been a stunning season for the Englishman.

However, his top-corner strike against West Ham United on the final day of the league campaign to take his side a step closer to the title was a thing of beauty and summed up his extraordinary season.

Srinivas Sadhanand – Oscar Bobb vs Newcastle United

Rarely is one goal associated with as many narratives as Oscar Bobb’s winner against Newcastle United.

Bobb’s strike was an indicator of how special of a talent he was. The twinkle-toed attacker’s splendid first touch coupled with his skill to go past Martin Dubravka and score were demonstrations to the world that City might have another young left-footed genius on their hands.

The youngster had well and truly announced himself to the world.

Additionally, City managed to remind their title rivals that even if they are down, it would be foolish to ever consider they are out.

Last but not least, Kevin De Bruyne, who provided the jaw-dropping assist, capped off his return from injury in the Premier League with a cameo to prove why he remains one of the division’s greatest-ever players.

Tom Proctor – Phil Foden vs West Ham United

Foden’s first against West Ham. It was just a magnificent strike into the top corner, and right off the back of him being named Premier League Player of the Season.

It settled any nerves and set City on their way to making history with a fourth Premier League title in a row.

Dan Murphy – Mateo Kovacic vs Luton Town

This is such a hard category to pick. Foden had about five contenders himself with his furious strike to complete his hat-trick against Aston Villa as well as several examples of his his trademarked curling effort on the turn.

Bernardo Silva, Julian Alvarez, Josko Gvardiol, De Bruyne and Bobb were all in the running too but Mateo Kovacic gets my vote.

The second in a 5-1 win over Luton might not be the most important strike, but the technique for his half-volley was sublime.

The ball was rising as Kovacic met it which can make a shot difficult to control but he thumped t with power and precision into the top corner.
